Subgenus Phenacomyia Harbach & Peyton

Phenacomyia was originally proposed as a subgenus of Culex by Harbach & Peyton (1992), with corniger Theobald, 1903 as its type species. Prior to the recognition of Phenacomyia, Cx. corniger and its two related species, Cx. lactator and Cx. airozai, were included in subgenus Culex.
