The membranous tube connecting the thorax to the head at the margins of the occipital foramen. In adult mosquitoes, laterally supported by the cervical sclerites. In mosquito larvae, bearing seta 18-C and seta 19-C laterally and a small sclerite, the ventromedian cervical sclerite, on its ventral midline.
