Note: 

Originally placed in genus Culicites Meunier, 1915 (non von Heyden, 1862); automatically transferred to genus Neoculicites with replacement of the preoccupied name by Evenhuis (1994). The fossilised specimen is a ‘typical Culicine mosquito' (Edwards, 1923).
