Definition:

The third segment of the antenna. In adult mosquitoes, comprised of 13 or 14 flagellomeres. In mosquito larvae, usually unrecognisably fused with the pedicel, and often the scape; possibly comprised of three flagellomeres, one basad of seta l-A, flagellomere 1 (Flm1), one between seta 1-A and seta 2-A and seta 3-A, flagellomere 2 (Flm2) and in Mansoniini larvae, one distal to setae 2- and 3-A, flagellomere 3 (Flm3); seta 5-A may represent additional distal flagellomeres.

Synonyms:

Adults: antennal shaft, postpedicel, shaft, third segment of antenna. Larvae: for flagellomere 1 − basal part (including the pedicel and scape); for flagellomere 2 − distal part; for flagellomere 3 − distal part.
