In anopheline eggs, the frill may (1) completely or incompletely enclose an undivided deck, (2) in essence be two frills, one surrounding the anterior part and the other the posterior part of a divided deck or (3) have the form of a collar around the anterior or posterior end of the egg. In Hodgesia eggs, a short frill encloses a narrow deck on the ventral surface at the posterior end. In Mimomyia eggs, the frill completely encloses an undivided deck.
