Type data: 

Holotype ♀, Gurnet Bay, Isle of Wight, England (compression / impression).

Note: 

This species was transferred to genus Aedes by Edwards (1923). The species appears to belong to tribe Aedini, but it cannot be assigned to an extant genus with any degree of certainty. The maxillary palpus and genitalia of the male are not characteristic of Aedes s.s. and the female genitalia are not long, relatively slender and extended as they are in members of Aedimorphus and Ochlerotatus (J.F. Reinert, personal communication).
