Genus PETERMATTINGLYIUS Reinert, Harbach & Kitching, 2009

Name-Bearing Type: 

Aedes iyengari Edwards, 1923.

Classification: 

Subfamily Culicinae, tribe Aedini. Petermattinglyius includes five species classified in two subgenera.

Distribution: 

Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand.

Bionomics: 

The immature stages are normally found in bamboo and occasionally in holes in trees or logs. Females have been collected biting humans, in human-baited traps and light traps, and resting in houses.

Medical and Economic Importance: 

Species of Petermattinglyius are not known to be of medical importance to humans.
