Name-Bearing Type: 

Stegomyia albocephalus Theobald, 1903.

Classification: 

Subfamily Culicinae, tribe Aedini. Polyleptiomyia includes only two species.

Distribution: 

Tropical Africa, Angola, Gambia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Príncipe, São Tomé, Seychelles and Zimbabwe.

Medical and Economic Importance: 

Species of Polyleptiomyia are not known to be of medical importance to humans.
