Definition:

The anterior section (tagma) of the insect body bearing the compound eyes, antennae and mouthparts; separated from the thorax by the cervix. In mosquito pupae, the cervix is reduced and the head abuts the thorax, the combined head and thorax being referred to as the cephalothorax.
