In dixid and some culicid males, a ventral (prerotation sense) lobe-like element of the phallosome located between the bases of the gonocoxites; embodied by a pair of sclerites, prosophallic sclerites, which are fused in dixids; in mosquitoes, known only in Verrallina; possibly homologous with the claspettes.
